Versus: Makeup Removers

In another addition of ‘Versus’ – Makeup Removers. We’re all obsessed with putting it on, but little do we know taking it off is just as important, if not more. My mother always told me that skipping a night of washing your face is equivalent to taking a year off the life of your face. Now I’m not sure how much I believe that, but I certainly believe that a little cleanser and water is not enough to save your face from makeup clogged pores and perma-black eyes making you look tired, haggard and dirty. It took a long time to find the makeup remover that I liked best. Oil-based removers leave me feeling dirty and greasy and I’d rather just scrub scrub scrub than feel greasy. Other’s just didn’t deliver their removing promises. But I’ve recently found two that I’m a big fan of.

The first is the Avene Lotion Micellaire and is a godsend in the art of makeup removal. I’ve never had a full face of makeup come off in one swipe before I met this bottle. I picked it up on a clearance table at Shoppers one day and may not look a different way for makeup removal for quite some time.

The second is the Body Shop’s Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover with community fair trade camomile. This is a very gentle formula, amazing for sensitive skin. And certainly does the job well. This would be my top pick for makeup removal if it was not for the smell. Can’t place it, but maybe eggs….is that what pure camomile smells like? Cause my tea doesn’t quite smell like that. Either way it does the job well, and I’ll continue to use it.

The winner of this match? Definitely AVENE! I can’t wait to try more products from this brand!! What is your favourite makeup remover?
