As I missed basically all of awards season this year, I’ve been severely lacking in some amazing gowns and shocking new looks to talk about from all the red carpets. But, alas, I still had MetGala to look forward to! What better event to dress up for than the annual charity event to support the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute?! Now, that’s my kind of event. Although I tend to prefer many styles on the safer side, each and every year some amazingly outstanding styles and pieces are seen – take a look at this year’s brave styles from Solange Knowles, Zoe Kravitz, Nicki Minaj and Madonna. But apart from the shocking, there was also the shockingly beautiful, stunning dresses of:
- Kate Hudson – Atelier Versace
- Lily Collins – Valentino
- Emma Watson – Calvin Klein and PHYNE
- Adriana Lima – Giambattista Valli
- Hailee Steinfeld – H&M
- Rachel McAdams – Valentino Haute Couture
- Naomi Watts – Burberry
But the winner of the whole night was Claire Danes wearing Zac Posen. What looked like a absolutely stunning light blue cinderella-esque gown that was absolutely perfect on her was ramped up a million steps once you realized it was actually made of fibre optic woven organza, completely lighting up the red carpet! If this is the direction high fashion is headed, I’m all for it!
