When it comes to the little things in life, it’s these aspects that mean a lot. While “life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans“, this is true, it helps us to focus on the little things that we would otherwise ignore. And when we look back on our life, we have big events that we say there, but it’s also the little moments that we also relish. A sip of coffee in the sunshine, lazing out in your back garden reading your favorite book, or just spending time with your loved one, holding hands. These are all little aspects that we can tend to overlook. Instead, focusing on these small things and aiming for them every single day is what will keep us ticking over, and be healthy and happy. Because now, we are bound by deadlines, pressures, and we feel that our calendar is completely full, that we don’t have any time for ourselves. This is why the little things mean so much.

And when we take the opportunity to look at our little moments and cherish these, we can enjoy these little experiences so much, that we want to take advantage of other things that make us happy. Be careful with this, because you may think that a glass of wine after a hard day is entirely justified, but this can be a habit or a crutch that we indulge in too much, and over time, this will have a negative impact on our life and our outlook. This is why we have to work hard and reframing our brain. It doesn’t have to be something as extreme as cognitive behavioral therapy, it can be as simple as taking the opportunity to realize where you are at this moment in time and check in with yourself. We don’t always face our true feelings, but when we do, that is when we can start to dig deep and find out why we are feeling unhappy or pressured.
Giving ourselves these little treats in life isn’t just a mere matter of indulgence, it’s about looking at who we are, and rewarding the fact that we are progressing in the right direction. A lot of people feel that they work hard, and so they deserve everything they’ve got, but when we are limited or bound by certain pressures, we can indulge in bad habits. This is something that we need to recognize within ourselves. It’s great that, on a Friday, that we can treat ourselves to something naughty, food-wise, because it’s these little things that will make us appreciate how far we’ve come. Remember, life is about challenges, and once we’ve overcome certain difficulties in life, we deserve a reward. But, we don’t always feel that we are justified in having a proper reward, or we don’t have the money to buy. This is why you can either take the opportunity to be a bit more mindful of what actually constitutes a reward in life. A lot of people place importance on the material things, but this isn’t everything we need.
