Monthly Top 5

Top 5 – July

It’s been awhile my friends; boy, does the time get away from me. Another month come and gone and this little area of the internet starting to get away from me. With only one day this month to myself it’s been hard to keep up with the beauty world and hard to take some time for myself – to relax, to pamper, and to be creative. I’ll find it again soon. A  new month, a new start to the last little bit of summer. For the first time in eons I’ve picked up a few new bits over the past month that have put a smile on this tired, dreary, lined face.

We’ll start with the Summer base, which is the same as favourite as last Summer. It’s the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundationwhich I usually leave to the Summer months as I picked it up in a shade too dark. With a bit of sun it’s the perfect shade for me and the slight shimmer in the formula it certainly does help to give me a much more ‘awake’ look.

On to the new products, I’ve been absolutely loving this new shade of mine from Anastasia Beverly Hills – the liquid lipstick in the shade Vintage which you can read about here. It’s such a bright, yet deep purple that it turns heads!! I absolutely love it. I’ve also been loving a new eyeshadow primer that I’ve decided to try, the Too Faced Shadow Insurance that keeps everything perfectly in place for hours on end.

After visiting the Benefit Brow Bar early this month I’ve also been getting some amazing use from the Benefit Gimme Brow that is a highly recommended Benefit product from the Benefit Brow professionals. I’ll tell you all about my Brow Bar experience in a post all on its own. And last but not least, still impressing me at every turn, is the L.A Girl Pro. Conceal HD High-Definition ConcealerBasically on the favourites list of every beauty junkie out there…seriously guys, check it out!

Top 5 – June

Another month come and gone  – and looking back, a shockingly dismal amount of blog post published, a shamefully low number of selfie’s and photo shoots, and a summer mood that is severely behind the times. With a hectic commute home from work and a 6 day gym schedule I’m falling behind on the things that matter most to me; family, friends, and my little online space here. I berate myself for forgetting whats really most important and letting these things slide. My fitness is something I’m doing for myself, and I’m having so much fun with it and finally seeing some results. But I can’t push everything else to the side. Time to strike a balance, and time to make July the best month of 2016 so far. I venture forth into July with a new found determination, attitude, and a genuine happiness (fingers crossed).

But there were a few things that got me through my month of June. Besides long days of work and gym sessions I had a few fun yet hectic weekends out in the sun and seeing as my pasty white skin can’t really handle it I’ve developed quite the attachment to two products. The first is my preventative care with the Banana Boat Sun Comfort SPF 3o Sunscreen Spray. I truly love a spray on sunscreen as there is absolutely nothing worse than the greasy, nasty sunscreen feeling – so instantly dry spray with an SPF of 30 is great!! I’ve also been addicted to, and relying on, the Nivea Sun Soleil SPF 30 lip balm. Burnt lips hurt like hell. But sometimes I get a little lazy on the re-application, or I miss a spot. And for those moments, of which there has been several already this summer, I turn to aloe vera and The Body Shop’s Aloe Body Butter for relief and moisturizing.

But of course, it hasn’t all been about sun and fun. I’d have to say that with very few joys in life recently, there hasn’t been much makeup and beauty product fun occurring. I haven’t made any new purchases and haven’t really had a chance to play around with some of my products. But I have been enjoying a little bit of colour here and there when I get the chance. Especially my most recent lip purchase, MAC Mehr paired with Soar liner, which I wrote all about here. I’ve never had so many compliments on a perfectly subtle everyday lip before!.

What have you been loving the past month? Heres to a great July.

Top 5 – May

Better late than never, I’m finally getting to my favourites from last month. Seriously, I know I say it every month, but where the heck has the time gone?! How is it already a full week into June?!

The last month has been a bit of a whirlwind; what with last minute trips and things starting to ramp up at work. I’ve had to cut down on some of my favourites, including some relaxing time. Yet some of my favourites have stepped in for shortcuts like the Bath and Body Works Sleep Pillow Mist. I know I’ve talked about this one before! There’s nothing better for a fast relax than sinking into soft pillows smelling like lavender and chamomile. I no longer have a nice bath to relax in, so this is the next best thing.

For my work routines I’ve basically cut it down to three items. My foundation, my eyeliner, and a scent to bring it all together. Lately I’ve been using the Sephora Fond De Teint in the shade 22 Light for the perfect long-lasting, natural finish that my face needs to get through the day. For my eyes I’ve been using the L’Oreal Extra Intense Eyeliner, which is the perfect silky black liner. I love to smudge it out for an easy smokey look using the MAC 219Se Brush. Then to finish off the day, and allowing myself some slight whiffs throughout the day I spritz some perfume. Now, don’t laugh. It may seem silly but I LOVE the Jennifer Anniston Eau de Perfume that came out years ago and I could never find it. Once I found it in a Duty Free I was hooked!! I really love it and although it’s a cheaper perfume I think that quality is on point with those twice it’s price!

What did you love in the month of May? What have you been loving so far in the first official month of Summer?
