Last month was the first time I decided to share with you my top 5 songs on the current radio lineup. I must admit I’ve spent a decent amount of time in the past month listening to some old favourites, especially the Hip with the news of Gord Downie and the upcoming tour. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you must not be Canadian; he’s a musical hero to our country and is certainly something special. If you’re aware of the Gord Downie story, then you’ll also know the massive outrage the country is going through due to the tour’s ticket sales. I’m right there with you friends; I’m appalled. I clicked refresh a million times and never got tickets, only to find them all on Stubhub for three times the price. Theres something wrong with this system and it makes me so sad that the true fans can’t be there for the final tour. My heart aches.
Anyways, theres have been my favourites this month
- In A World Possessed By the Human Mind – The Tragically Hip
- Bored to Death – Blink 182
- Dark Necessities – Red Hot Chili Peppers
- Wow – Beck
- Way Down We Go – Kaleo
Spring has finally sprung! The weather may be flip-flopping, but it’s more warm than it is cold and the sun is shining! The grass is green, the birds are chirping, and I’m loving the small bits of exposed skin, the pink lips, and the perfectly flushed looking skin!
The month of April has been incredibly busy, but of course bad skin and dry, chapped hands don’t come at a convenient time. So I’ve been using a few products to help me along! Working in the food industry means constant hand washing with harsh soaps and rough paper towel as well as having my hands often elbow-deep in sanitizers. My skin has been so dry that my knuckles actually split the other day – OWWIE! So I’ve been using my favourite L’Occitane Hand Cream in both Pivoine Flora and Au Lait D’Amande; deeply hydrating and smelling amazing! But with the chapped hands this season also comes super dry face as well. But with my new gym and work-out regimen my sweaty face has been needing a bit of help from the little breakouts. So I’ve been using The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion to help moisturize but also clear my skin and control that sweaty shine!
My favourites for Spring always seem to be pink tinged! And this Spring is no exception. I’ve been LOVING the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette. It’s gives the most PERFECT pinched cheek flush with it’s trio of bronzer, blush and highlight all in one palette. And for the lips, the NYX Liquid Suede cream lipstick in the shade Tea & Cookies. I love the matte long-lasting formula and the colour is just perfect for this time of year!!
And last but not least for my top 5 products this month are my mini Tweezerman Tweezers which have been essential in my brow development! I’ve been trying to reshape my brows lately but letting them grow out a bit. It’s been a struggle trying not to pluck the weird stray hairs, but I’ve finally got them to the perfect shape thanks to my little adorable tweezers!
What have you been loving for the month of April?
Time for something a little new. I’ve been so incredibly caught up with life lately that my blog has suffered. A few posts here and there…but I do apologize for the silence my dear friends. And now that I’m sitting here and giving myself some time to write and reflect I realize there just isn’t a whole hell of a lot to talk about friends. There have been no new makeup purchases, no new books read, no new Netflix series binge-watched, and no recent life adventures. But what there has been over the past month is a lot of new music to bop my head along with, so time to at another one to my “Top 5” series – My monthly Top 5 songs.
The city of Toronto is home to many amazing radio stations. There isn’t enough favourite buttons on my car radio console to save them all and I annoyingly have to turn the FM dial to tune in to some of my favourites. I’m a big fan of 102.1 The Edge which I’ve been listening to for about 8 years now, especially the Sunday night “Ongoing History of New Music” show with Alan Cross. And about two and half years ago another Toronto icon joined the air in the form of Indie88 which has quickly turned Toronto into the hub of rising artists and indie rock – I’m proud of the musical roots and music culture that has grown out of Toronto over the past decade and the arrival of Indie88 within the last three years exploded the scene and has really allowed it to blossom.
Now as much as certain radio hosts annoy the crap out of me and radio stations seem to overplay songs to the point that I can’t handle them anymore, I’ve certainly expanded my music taste and have grown to truly love music. These are my favourite tracks of the past month:
- Ophelia – The Lumineers
- Woman Woman – Awolnation
- Ride – TwentyOne Pilots
- Amerika – Wintersleep
- Not My Girl – Tokyo Police Club
And the entire Lumineers album “Cleopatra” deserves it’s own spot. I’ll gladly name it album of the year so far. Amazing from start to finish!
What kind of music do you like? I love discovering new music!
