Top 5 – July

It’s been awhile my friends; boy, does the time get away from me. Another month come and gone and this little area of the internet starting to get away from me. With only one day this month to myself it’s been hard to keep up with the beauty world and hard to take some time for myself – to relax, to pamper, and to be creative. I’ll find it again soon. A  new month, a new start to the last little bit of summer. For the first time in eons I’ve picked up a few new bits over the past month that have put a smile on this tired, dreary, lined face.

We’ll start with the Summer base, which is the same as favourite as last Summer. It’s the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundationwhich I usually leave to the Summer months as I picked it up in a shade too dark. With a bit of sun it’s the perfect shade for me and the slight shimmer in the formula it certainly does help to give me a much more ‘awake’ look.

On to the new products, I’ve been absolutely loving this new shade of mine from Anastasia Beverly Hills – the liquid lipstick in the shade Vintage which you can read about here. It’s such a bright, yet deep purple that it turns heads!! I absolutely love it. I’ve also been loving a new eyeshadow primer that I’ve decided to try, the Too Faced Shadow Insurance that keeps everything perfectly in place for hours on end.

After visiting the Benefit Brow Bar early this month I’ve also been getting some amazing use from the Benefit Gimme Brow that is a highly recommended Benefit product from the Benefit Brow professionals. I’ll tell you all about my Brow Bar experience in a post all on its own. And last but not least, still impressing me at every turn, is the L.A Girl Pro. Conceal HD High-Definition ConcealerBasically on the favourites list of every beauty junkie out there…seriously guys, check it out!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Vintage

Want to spice things up a little bit this summer? Take things from the normal bright pinks and fuscias to something with a little more OOMPH and BANG?! I’ve got just the colour for you. It’s the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in the shade Vintage.

I get myself in a rut of varying hues of reds, pinks and plums. Each a slight shade off from the next. But my lipstick collection was seriously lacking in something packing a punch. Something that makes me feel fun and bold and daring. Everyone’s been raving about the ABH Liquid Lipsticks and, of course, I was itching to get my hands on them. But as you may have noticed from my little blog here I’ve been lacking in the makeup world recently. Very little time to myself and my appearance; countless hours at work and the gym. So it was time to take the plunge.

This cool-toned, deep orchid shade is perfect for the summer. As someone who favours the purple and plum hues I find it hard to find something that is daring and dark, while at the same time not too red-toned or warm for the summer. It’s brightness is so fun! And the ABH Liquid Lipsticks are an amazing formula. Such comfortable doffer application, even without a lipliner, and dries to a perfect, long-lasting, matte finish! I have a feeling you’ll be seeing this one quite a bit for the rest of the summer.

Now just time to take it out on the town!!

What is your favourite shade of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks?

Top 5 – June

FullSizeRender

I’ve been feeling a little spendy for the month of June, and for the first time in a long time all 5 of my monthly favourites are new products in June. Much of my shopping has been to replace those products I refuse to go without (if you saw my last ’empties’ post you’d understand the dire need to spend money), but many of these products are new to the stash and have been on my shopping list for a long time.

The first product I purchased this month was the long-desired Anastasia Brow Wiz. I know I ranted about the price recently, and how there are several brow products out there that are just as good, but I caved. And I’m so glad I did. I love how natural my brows still look after filling them in with this. Alongside that I splurged and spur of the moment picked up the Smashbox Contour Kit. I don’t own any other contouring products and have wanted to give them a go for a long time, but have always been overwhelmed by the amount of products in the palettes. Smashbox sold me with simplicity (good job Smashbox). I’m still playing around with the three shades, but it’s an easy to use, simple contour palette and I’m loving it!

After posting a rant about my undying love for the Maybelline 24h Color Tattoo eyeshadows, I had to go get more. I picked up two more of the ‘leather effect’ line and have been loving the shade Vintage Plum. It’s a light, simple lilac shade that is perfect for everyday wear. Since they’re really buildable you can have a light shimmer of plum, or dark and bold plum eyes!

And last but certainly not least, the two lipsticks. I may have gone overboard recently. I finally returned my empty compacts for a Back to MAC free lipstick! Seeing as it was free, I probably should have taken the time to be daring and try something I probably would never spend money on. Instead I took the safe route and picked up a shade that has been on my list for a long time, MAC’s Lustre Lipstick in the shade Plumful. After bringing it home I’ve come to realize I have about 10 of this exact same shade from about 6 different brands….I have a problem. But my favourite of them all is the L’Oreal Collection Privee The Perfect Red’s By Julianne. I’ve been searching for about a year for this (as well as Blake’s which I also picked up), but I put it off and put it off until the line was no longer sold! They’ve moved on the the Perfect Nudes collection, but I found the red’s in a tiny town Walmart and I jumped for joy!! I love this cherry pop red!!!

What have you been loving this month?
